Strum Guitars, Cloudforest Chocolates and West Coast Grocery Company now calls the Luxury Bread Building home!
The Luxury Bread Building (1403 SE Stark)
The rich history of the Luxury Bread Building harkens back to 1929, when it was originally run as a family bakery called the Luxury Bakery Company.
Completely rebuilt from the ground up, the building features full seismic upgrades, and state-of-the-art mechanical systems, including full solar power; Urban Works Broker Rob Moneyhan quotes, “The Luxury Bread Building is easily one of the best adaptive reuse projects on the Eastside. ” With a total of five retail spaces available, three businesses have now set up shop!
Vintage guitar shop where customers can buy, sell and trade vintage guitars and amps or attend a performance while enjoying a beer, wine or cider.

Cloudforest Chocolate
Local chocolate company Cocanú, known for their unconventional chocolate flavors, has recently rebranded under the name Cloudforest. After years of operating as a solo chocolatier, founder Sebastian Cisneros decided to create a team and relocate to a new space in the Luxury Bread Building on Stark. Their new space allows for a chocolate factory and their first retail chocolate shop.
A recent Portland Monthly article on Cloudforest quotes, “The bars are sold on shelves at the 13-seat café—10 flavors for now, each a little adventure, from coffee-blazing Bruno to Moonwalk, which is wrapped in a glistening white space-suit package and shot through with Pop Rocks. ”
Cloudforest is open in the Luxury Bread Building.
West Coast Grocery Company
Neighborhood taproom and brewery serving a full menu with 12 beers on tap. West Coast Grocery collaborates with many breweries around town, some including Breakside Brewing, Baerlic Brewing, Buoy Beer Co., Laurelwood Public House and more! Recently, The New School wrote an article documenting “Trials and Tribulations of an Upcoming Startup Portland Brewery” with a part one and two.

West Coast Grocery Co. will be opening this year inside of the Luxury Bread Building.
